Top 2 New Shows I Love and 2 I’m Dropping After First Episode
2026 has kicked off with a slew of exciting new shows to stream, and I’ve been diving in to find the gems worth watching. Among the many options this month, two standout shows have captured my attention—PONIES and Steal.
PONIES on Peacock features Emilia Clarke and Haley Lu Richardson as unlikely spies unraveling a conspiracy in 1970s Russia. This thriller had me hooked from the start, thanks to the fantastic chemistry between Clarke and Richardson. With plenty of humor, twists, and high stakes, PONIES is a must-watch for me this year.
Steal on Prime Video, starring Sophie Turner, is a gripping heist thriller that grabs you right away. The action-packed first episode sets the stage for an intense and thrilling series. The cliffhanger at the end left me eager for more, making Steal a show I couldn’t resist binging.
On the flip side, The Beauty and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms didn’t quite hit the mark for me. The Beauty, a new series from Ryan Murphy, dives into a beauty conspiracy with Ashton Kutcher and Bella Hadid. While the premise is intriguing, the extreme and graphic nature of the show was a bit too much for my taste.
As for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, a prequel to Game of Thrones inspired by George R.R. Martin’s novellas, I found the first episode to be slow and lacking the excitement I was hoping for. While it takes a more human approach, the Westeros-inspired content didn’t quite capture my interest like it used to.
In a world filled with endless streaming options, these are the shows that have stood out to me this month. Whether you’re in the mood for a thrilling spy drama or a heist-filled adventure, there’s something for everyone in the world of streaming entertainment.
