Peacock’s Love Island Season Breaks Streaming Records
In 2025, the most-viewed original streaming show in terms of a single season was “Love Island USA” on NBCU’s Peacock, according to Luminate Data. It racked up an impressive 18 billion minutes streamed during its seventh year. What set it apart? Well, for starters, it had a massive 37-episode season, which is quite a bit longer than the typical 9 to 10 episodes we see from other streaming shows.
HBO Max’s “The Pitt” came in at a close second with 18 billion minutes for its premiere season, while Paramount+’s “Landman” wasn’t far behind with 11.4 billion minutes in its first year. But let’s not forget about Netflix — they really swept in with the next six original series dominating the rankings.
Leading the pack was the final season of “Stranger Things” with 11.2 billion minutes. Plus, the show’s two-hour finale, which dropped on the last day of Luminate’s 2025 measurement period, definitely helped boost those numbers.
Netflix continued its winning streak with hits like “Wednesday”, “The Night Agent”, “The Hunting Wives”, and “Untamed”. Not to mention “Ginny & Georgia” and the second season of “Landman” also making the top ten list.
Overall, Netflix held strong with a huge 59% share of U.S. original streaming viewing time, followed by Amazon Prime Video, HBO Max, Hulu, Apple TV, Disney+, and Peacock rounding out the list.
