Flat Stanley Feature Film Development at Disney+

Did you hear the news about the upcoming Disney animated film based on the popular children’s book series “Flat Stanley?” It’s true! Mic Graves, known for directing Elliot from Earth and The Amazing World of Gumball, has been chosen to direct and co-write this Disney+ original project.

The film is currently in the casting phase for a lead role, which is described as a good-natured teen trying to distinguish himself from his overachieving brother, Arthur. The story revolves around the character finding a mythical artifact called the “Eye of Odin” that transforms him forever.

While the plot may differ slightly from the books, which typically feature Stanley as the older brother, the film is designed to capture the same humor and fun for its tween audience. The series, created by Jeff Brown, has been a favorite since its release in 1964, with over a million copies sold worldwide and translated into multiple languages.

Fun fact: Fox previously had the rights to “Flat Stanley” and announced plans for a feature film in 2014.
