Last December, I shared the story of how criminology students at the University of Texas at Arlington joined forces with local law enforcement to reopen a long-dormant cold case. What began as an educational project blossomed into a significant endeavor, now featured in a compelling national documentary.

In a groundbreaking criminology class, students from UT Arlington teamed up with authorities to reexamine evidence from a decades-old case that had remained unsolved for over 30 years. Their dedication led to the discovery of new details, including a suspected love triangle that investigators believe could be linked to the crime, injecting fresh momentum into the investigation.

The case revolves around Cynthia Gonzalez, a 25-year-old mother whose life was tragically cut short when she was found murdered by the side of a road in the Dallas-Fort Worth area back in 1991. With no arrests made and the case turning cold, her family endured over three decades without closure.

Now, the story of Cynthia Gonzalez and the students who played a pivotal role in reigniting interest in her case is the central focus of a newly released episode of ABC News Studios’ IMPACT x Nightline. Titled “Never See You Again,” this documentary recently premiered on Disney+ and Hulu.
