Star Trek 2025: Ranking the Top Moments from Worst to Best

As we kick off the New Year, let’s take a look back at the highs and lows of Star Trek in 2025. From a not-so-great streaming movie to a so-so third season of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds to a standout audio drama, there’s been a mix of ups and downs in the beloved sci-fi franchise over the past year.

At the bottom of the list, we have Star Trek: Section 31. The release of this installment and its reception both left a lot to be desired, landing it in the top spot on the list of the franchise’s most fascinatingly bad moments of 2025. This black sheep of the Star Trek family was set in the future, but unfortunately, it missed the mark with audiences and critics alike. Even the talented Michelle Yeoh couldn’t quite save this one. However, despite its shortcomings, the movie did receive a nomination for a Make-Up Artists & Hair Stylists Guild award for Best Special Make-Up Prosthetics. So, at least it has that going for it!

While Star Trek: Section 31 may have had a rough go of it in 2025, it’s still a part of the larger Star Trek universe we all know and love. Even in its missteps, this installment remains “head-scratchingly” fascinating for all the wrong reasons. Here’s to hoping for more stellar moments from Star Trek in the years to come!
