Tron: Ares Disney+ Release Date Announced
“Tron: Ares” is set to debut on Disney+ on January 7th, marking the third installment in the “Tron” franchise. This sci-fi film follows a powerful AI named Ares as it travels from the digital program into the real world. The star-studded cast includes Jared Leto, Greta Lee, Evan Peters, Jodie Turner-Smith, and more, with Jeff Bridges returning to reprise his role as Kevin Flynn. Directed by Joachim Rønning, the movie hit theaters on October 10, 2025, earning $60 million globally in its opening weekend. However, it faced tough competition from “Roofman” and dropped to second place in its second week, overtaken by “Black Phone 2”. Overall, “Tron: Ares” grossed $142 million worldwide, falling short of its predecessor “Tron: Legacy” which grossed $400 million. The original “Tron” from 1982 was a pioneer in visual effects, combining live-action footage with unique animation techniques and early CGI.
