Game Awards Global Audience Reaches Record High
The Game Awards just keeps getting bigger, breaking records in 2025 with a whopping 171 million global livestreams on December 11th. Back in 2014, the show started with under two million viewers, so it’s pretty amazing to see how far it’s come.
These numbers only count full livestreams of the broadcast, and don’t include clips or those watching on Amazon Prime Video for the first time. So, in reality, even more people tuned in.
The show was all over – from YouTube to Twitch, Steam, TikTok Live, and even to services in China and India. Twitch and YouTube had a total of 4.4 million people tuning in at the same time, up 9% from last year.
YouTube took the lead with nearly 1.4 million peak concurrent viewers on their 4K stream. When you add in co-streams, the total peak viewership on YouTube hit over 2.4 million—a new record with over 8,600 channels co-streaming the show.
Twitch wasn’t far behind with over 1.8 million people watching at the peak. More people watching and more hours watched this year, and co-streaming was huge with about 16,500 creators joining in, which is a 50% jump from last year.
Social media was buzzing too. On X, there was a 12% rise in posts about The Game Awards, hitting nearly 1.8 million during the show window. Viewers on X watched over 60 million videos and participation in authenticated voting jumped by more than 10 percent to top 123 million votes globally.
This year’s show reached new heights, especially in Asia, with lots of live streams in China, Korea, and Japan. It was a truly global event.
Award-winning games like Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 really stole the show. Winning Game of the Year and a whole bunch of other awards, it was a night to remember. And with celeb presenters and world premieres, it was just a blast to watch.
The Game Awards just keep getting better and better with Geoff Keighley and Kimmie Kim at the helm. It’s clear gaming is more popular than ever, especially with titles like Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 making such a big impact across the industry.
