Netflix Announces Return of Classic Sci-Fi Series After 3 Years

Netflix is wrapping up the year with a bang, offering a diverse array of entertainment from murder mysteries to romantic comedies. As we bid farewell to the beloved Stranger Things, fans will also be treated to the return of another classic series – Stargate SG-1. This iconic sci-fi favorite, which ran for an impressive 10 seasons, will be back on Netflix in the United States and select international territories on February 15th, 2026.

After being removed from Netflix in 2022 and making a brief appearance on Prime Video, Stargate SG-1 is returning to its original streaming home. However, fans should note that while SG-1 is back on Netflix, its spin-offs Stargate: Atlantis and Stargate: Universe remain exclusive to Prime Video.

But don’t worry, Prime Video is still invested in the Stargate universe, with a new Stargate TV series in the works. The series will be helmed by showrunner Martin Gero, who brings a wealth of experience from his previous work on popular shows like Quantum Leap and Blindspot. Alongside Gero, original film creators Roland Emmerich and Dean Devlin, as well as Stargate franchise veterans Brad Wright and Joe Mallozzi, are all onboard to ensure the future success of the series.

So, get ready to dive back into the world of Stargate with SG-1 and enjoy 10 seasons of thrilling science fiction adventures. What do you think of this exciting news? Share your thoughts in the comments below and join the conversation in the ComicBook Forum!
