IMPACT x Nightline: Solving Theresa Fusco’s Murder
Disney has just revealed exciting news about an upcoming episode of its documentary series, “IMPACT x Nightline,” titled “The Last Straw: Solving Theresa Fusco’s Murder.” This gripping episode is set to premiere on Disney+ and Hulu later this week.
Back in 1984, Theresa Fusco, a 16-year-old from Long Island, went missing after her shift at Hot Skates Roller Rink. Tragically, her body was found nearly a month later in a wooded area near the rink, viciously beaten and unclothed. Three men were initially convicted for the crime, but DNA testing eventually proved their innocence after 15 years behind bars. With the case going cold, a breakthrough emerged linking a Long Island man to the crime using genetic evidence from a smoothie straw. “IMPACT x Nightline” delves into the investigation, speaking with the families of other missing teens from the same era, the Nassau County district attorney prosecuting the case, and a former investigator who played a crucial role in overturning the wrongful convictions.
Led by “Nightline” co-anchor Byron Pitts, this episode features exclusive interviews with relatives of two other missing Long Island teens, Nassau County District Attorney Anne T. Donnelly who is leading the charge in Teresa’s case, and former investigator Kate Germond who worked tirelessly to free the wrongfully convicted men. The episode also includes archival interviews with the exonerated individuals.
“IMPACT x Nightline” is currently in its fourth season, offering an award-winning exploration of topics shaping American culture and global conversations. The executive producer, Eman Varoqua, leads this thought-provoking series.
