Growing Demigod Walker Scobell from Percy Jackson

The highly anticipated Season 2 of “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” has fans buzzing as our favorite half-awake demigod hero, as portrayed by Walker Scobell, returns to our screens. The now 16-year-old Scobell has visibly grown since the release of Season 1 on Disney+ two years ago. Transitioning seamlessly from the realms of mythology into the whirlwind of high school, Scobell’s character development leaves fans excited for what’s to come in Season 2.

In a recent chat with USA TODAY, executive producer Craig Silverstein shared that the show’s focus on Scobell’s physical transformation is intentional, ensuring fans are prepared for the noticeable change in their beloved character. “It’s 100% because it’s like he’s older, here it is,” Silverstein mentioned. “Get used to it.”

Adjusting to the sight of his character’s growth, Scobell admits that it’s a bit surreal for him as well. At 5-foot-10 and approaching his 17th birthday on Jan. 5, the young actor explains, “When I imagine myself, I still think of the Season 1 person. I just need to see some more Season 2, and maybe that will change.”

The evolution of child actors as they grow up on screen isn’t new, with Scobell joining the ranks of stars like the cast of “Stranger Things.” Starting out at age 11 as mini-Ryan Reynolds in “The Adam Project,” Scobell’s journey through “Percy Jackson” showcases his growth both on and off camera as he embodies the role of Poseidon’s son in the beloved series.

Reflecting on his physical changes since Season 1, Scobell humorously recounts, “I started Season 1 at like 5-foot-2, and I ended it at like 5-foot-7. We tried to reshoot some early scenes at the end, and it didn’t work; I looked too different.” The dedicated “Percy Jackson” fanbase attentively follows Scobell’s progression online and eagerly embraces the actor during public appearances and Disney outings.

With Season 2 well underway, fans can look forward to witnessing Scobell’s continued growth and development as he navigates both the challenges of high school and his divine destiny in the series.
