Disney+ Ends Partnership with MCU’s Top TV Series on the Direct
Disney+ is saying goodbye to one of Marvel Studios’ most successful TV franchises with the upcoming conclusion of the WandaVision trilogy. Starting back in 2021, WandaVision became the first major Marvel series in the streaming era and has since spawned several spin-offs. While Loki is the only show so far to get a second season, the WandaVision trilogy will be the first of its kind on Disney+.
Marvel Studios has officially announced that the WandaVision franchise will wrap up in 2026 with the release of VisionQuest. This upcoming series will serve as the final chapter of the trilogy that began with WandaVision and continued with Agatha All Along.
VisionQuest, which premiered its trailer at New York Comic-Con, will focus on Paul Bettany’s character, Vision, as he grapples with his memories and existence following his revival after the events of Infinity War. Set to debut on Disney+ in 2026, the series picks up immediately where WandaVision left off, with White Vision navigating his newfound memories from Westview.
VisionQuest aims to maintain the high standard set by WandaVision and Agatha All Along by providing a worthy conclusion to the story. Showrunner Terry Matalas emphasized the importance of honoring the emotional and thematic foundations laid in the original series. The new show is described as being a direct sequel to WandaVision but with its own unique identity.
The cast of VisionQuest will feature familiar faces from the wider MCU, including James Spader as Ultron and Emily Hampshire as EDITH. Ruaridh Mollica’s portrayal of Thomas Shepherd (Tommy Maximoff) will continue to connect the storyline across the trilogy, making him a crucial emotional link between the series.
Tommy Maximoff’s character has been a consistent thread running through the WandaVision trilogy, tying together various storylines. His presence is expected to play a key role in the upcoming VisionQuest series as the storylines from WandaVision and Agatha All Along converge.
As fans eagerly await the release of VisionQuest, questions loom about how the Maximoff family’s story will conclude. Will Wanda and Vision be reunited with their children, or are Tommy and Billy being set up for future adventures in the Young Avengers team? Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting Marvel series!
