“First Snow of Fraggle Rock: A Meta and Surreal Scene by John Tartaglia”
Today marks the debut of “The First Snow of Fraggle Rock,” a special holiday episode that follows Gobo Fraggle as he struggles to write the yearly holiday song after only a single snowflake falls. To shake off his writer’s block, Gobo ventures into Outer Space (our world) in search of inspiration.
John Tartaglia, the actor behind Gobo, shared some insights into the making of the episode. He highlighted the return of the classic song “Our Melody” from the original series, chosen for its themes of unity and collaboration, reflecting the spirit of the holiday special.
In one memorable scene, Gobo and guest star Lele Pons perform a duet of “Our Melody.” Tartaglia revealed that Pons, who was pregnant at the time of filming, was thrilled to be part of the show and saw a connection between her character’s story and Gobo’s own journey.
While Tartaglia spends most of the episode behind the scenes puppeteering Gobo, he makes a surprising on-screen cameo in a meta and surreal moment. Reflecting on the experience, he shared his childhood dream of being part of Fraggle Rock and how surreal it felt to finally interact with Gobo on set.
You can catch “The First Snow of Fraggle Rock” streaming on Apple TV+ for a heartwarming holiday treat.
