Amazon Prime Refund: Steps to Claim Your $2.5 Billion Settlement

Amazon recently reached a $2.5 billion settlement due to allegations of deceptive tactics related to Prime subscriptions. If you were affected, you could be eligible for a refund of up to $51. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) reported that Amazon has started issuing automatic payments to some customers since November 12.

The settlement stems from a lawsuit filed in 2023, accusing Amazon of making it difficult for customers to cancel Prime subscriptions. Eligible customers who signed up for Prime between June 23, 2019, and June 23, 2025, are entitled to a refund. To qualify, users must have used a maximum of three Prime benefits within a 12-month period after signing up.

Refunds will be automatically sent by Amazon between November 12 and December 24, 2025, via PayPal or Venmo. If you miss the digital payment, a check will be mailed to your default address. Remember to cash the check within 60 days of receiving it.

If you don’t receive an automatic refund, you can claim it in 2026. The FTC will provide a form for eligible customers to make their claim. Be cautious of scams and know that the FTC will never ask for money to issue refunds. Make sure to verify that the emails you receive are from Amazon or an FTC domain to avoid falling for scams.
