Amazon Settles FTC Case: How to Claim Your Share of $1.5 Billion

Amazon has reached a settlement with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) that requires the company to pay out $1.5 billion in refunds to eligible Prime users. This settlement comes after the FTC accused Amazon of using coercive tactics to enroll customers in Prime subscriptions and making it challenging to cancel.

If you signed up for Amazon Prime between June 23, 2019, and June 23, 2025, and faced difficulties in canceling your subscription or went through a “challenged enrollment flow,” you may be eligible for a refund. The challenged enrollment flow includes subscribing through specific pages on Amazon’s website.

To receive your refund, Amazon will automatically issue payments to eligible Prime customers by December 25, 2025. In 2026, Amazon will launch a claims process for those who are eligible but did not receive an automatic refund.
