HBO Max Developing ‘DC Crime’ Series by Creators of ‘American Vandal’

DC Studios and HBO Max are teaming up to bring fans a new, exciting show set in the DC Universe. The series, titled “DC Crime,” is presented as a true crime docuseries hosted by Jimmy Olsen, played by Skyler Gisondo. The first season will delve into the world of Gorilla Grodd, a notorious DC villain known for his clashes with The Flash.

Behind the scenes, Tony Yacenda and Dan Perrault, best known for creating the hit show “American Vandal,” will be serving as writers, executive producers, and showrunners for the series. The show is also backed by the executive production team of James Gunn and Peter Safran from DC Studios. Galen Vaisman of DC Studios will be overseeing production, with Warner Bros. Television as the studio behind the project.

Fans of mockumentary series will be thrilled to see Yacenda and Perrault behind the scenes of “DC Crime.” Their past work includes the Emmy-nominated and Peabody Award-winning show “American Vandal” on Netflix, as well as the eSports-themed series “Players” on Paramount+. Yacenda’s experience extends to shows like “Chad Powers” on Hulu, while Perrault recently appeared in the Shondaland-Netflix series “The Residence.”
