Coleman’s Stellar Performance Leads Illinois State Redbirds to Victory
NORMAL, Ill. – A powerful play by freshman Ty’Reek Coleman led to an impressive 11-point victory on Sunday afternoon inside CEFCU Arena. It was quite the home debut for Coleman, as he helped turn around a 10-point deficit in the first half to secure the win.
The game started with both teams trading three-point shots, but Cornell quickly took the lead with ten consecutive points, bringing the score up to 13-3. They maintained the lead until halfway through the first half. Then, the Redbirds went on a spectacular 15-0 run to take the lead for the first time with 9:27 left on the clock. By halftime, they were up by six, with a score of 34-32. The Big Red put up a fight, but Illinois State University managed to take the lead into the second half.
It was a thrilling game that showcased the talent and determination of both teams, but ultimately, it was the Redbirds who emerged victorious.
