HBO Max Orders 2 TV Show Pilots to Replicate The Pitt
HBO Max has given the green light to two new TV show pilots, American Blue and How to Survive Without Me. These new shows will follow in the footsteps of the successful medical drama The Pitt with a similar episode count, budget, and release strategy.
American Blue, created by Jeremy Carver and Brian Udovich, tells the story of Brian “Milk” Milkovich, who returns to his hometown of Joliet, Illinois, to help out the struggling police force and find redemption. According to HBO Max executive Sarah Aubrey, Carver and Udovich did their homework by talking to real-life cops in Joliet, Chicago. The show is expected to have a classic police drama feel, reminiscent of shows like Hill Street Blues and NYPD Blue, but with a modern twist and focus on community.
On the other hand, How to Survive Without Me, produced by Greg Berlanti, Bash Doran, and Robbie Rogers, explores the lives of adult siblings and their father in Los Angeles. This family drama will dig deep into themes of grief, love, and resilience, providing viewers with a rich and nuanced storyline.
Sarah Aubrey praised Berlanti’s talent in bringing this family drama to life, highlighting the aspirational and inspirational elements of the show that audiences are drawn to in today’s world. Both shows are set to offer engaging storytelling and memorable characters that viewers can connect with on a deeper level.
