Disney+ Launches HDR10+ Support: What You Need to Know
Disney+ has some exciting news for all you HDR enthusiasts out there! The streaming service is dipping its toes into the world of HDR10+ content, starting with about 1,000 shows from Hulu. While access to this new HDR standard might be a bit limited at first, there’s more to come down the line.
Samsung, a key player in the realm of high dynamic range video, recently shared this announcement. To kick things off, Disney+ will make HDR10+ content available on Samsung Crystal UHD TVs and newer models dating back to 2018, as well as select Samsung Smart Monitors.
Now, you might be wondering what HDR10+ is all about. Well, think of it as an enhanced version of the HDR10 technology, designed to elevate image quality. Similar to Dolby Vision, HDR10+ brings viewers a broader spectrum of contrast, brightness, and colors on a scene-by-scene basis (assuming your screen is compatible, of course).
While Netflix just hopped on the HDR10+ bandwagon in March, some platforms have been onboard for a while now. So, if you’re eager to experience the world of HDR10+ on Disney+, stay tuned for more updates as the rollout continues!
