Hulu, Disney Plus, and HBO Max Raise Streaming Prices
Streaming prices have gone up again, and this time Hulu, Disney Plus, and HBO Max are the ones raising rates. It’s causing some subscribers to reevaluate their streaming service choices, deciding which ones to keep and which ones to let go. Let’s break down the changes you can expect to see.
Hulu is increasing prices for most ad-supported plans and bundles by $2-$3 per month. The biggest bump is for live TV subscribers, who will see their plan cost go up by $7 per month. Here’s a breakdown of the new prices: Hulu with ads is now $11.99, Hulu without ads remains at $18.99, Disney+ and Hulu bundle with ads is $12.99, Disney+ Premium and Hulu bundle without ads is still $19.99, Disney+ Premium, Hulu, and ESPN Select bundle without ads is $25, and the Hulu and Live TV plan is now $89.99.
HBO Max is also increasing prices for new subscribers across all subscription tiers. Current monthly subscribers will see these changes starting Nov. 20. Here are the new prices: Basic plan with ads is now $10.99 per month and $109.99 per year, Standard ad-free plan is $18.49 per month and $184.99 per year, and Premium plan is $22.99 per month and $229.99 per year.
So, why are these prices going up? According to experts, the increases are due to rising content production costs. Americans spend an average of $90 a month on subscriptions, but often end up not using all the services they pay for. In addition to Hulu, Disney Plus, and HBO Max, competitors like Netflix, Peacock, and Apple TV Plus have also raised prices this year.
To manage your subscription costs, take some time to audit your spending. Check your bank account to see where your money is going, and decide which services are essential for you. You can also rotate services by subscribing to one or two platforms for a month and then switching to different ones the next month. Another tip is to consider paying annually instead of monthly, as this can save you around 15% to 20% on services like Hulu and Disney+.
It’s always important to stay on top of your budget and make sure you’re getting value from the services you pay for. Keep an eye out for any changes in pricing and adjust your subscriptions accordingly. Stay informed, stay savvy, and happy streaming!
