Schmigadoon Broadway Dates Announced
The upcoming 2025-26 Broadway season is going out with a bang as the stage adaptation of the popular TV series “Schmigadoon” is set to hit the Nederlander Theatre.
Starring Alex Brightman and Sara Chase as Josh and Melissa, the show follows a couple who find themselves in a magical town where everyone spontaneously breaks into song, transforming their lives into a real-life Broadway musical. The concept of “Schmigadoon” is a playful parody of the 1947 musical “Brigadoon,” adding a comedic twist to the classic storyline.
Previews for “Schmigadoon!” on Broadway begin on April 4, 2026, with the official opening night scheduled for April 20. The limited run of the show is expected to conclude on September 6.
The stage adaptation is based on the Apple TV+ series that premiered in July 2021 and returned for its second and final season in the spring of 2023. The original songs featured in the series were penned by Cinco Paul, known for his work on popular animated films like “Despicable Me” and “The Secret Life of Pets.” Paul has taken on the role of writing the book, music, and lyrics for the Broadway adaptation, which had a successful trial run at the Kennedy Center in the summer of 2025.
The musical is directed and choreographed by Christopher Gattelli, a seasoned professional with a portfolio that includes hits like “The Cher Show,” “SpongeBob SquarePants,” “Newsies,” and “War Paint.”
