Netflix Series Wins Golden Bell Award

The Netflix series “Born for the Spotlight” took home the top prize at this year’s Golden Bell Awards. This drama, which shines a light on the highs and lows of the entertainment industry, won big in multiple categories including most popular drama series, best director, best leading actress, and best supporting actress.

Director Yen Yi-wen expressed her gratitude to the cast for teaching her how to be a better director and emphasized the importance of loving your actors. Cheryl Yang, who won best actress for her role in the series, dedicated her award to hard-working actors and actresses who believe in themselves.

Vietnamese actor Liên Bỉnh Phát won best leading actor for “The Outlaw Doctor” and expressed his disbelief at being on the Golden Bell stage. He thanked the cast, crew, viewers, and Taiwan for their kindness.

“Black Tide Island” scooped up six technical awards, while the period drama “Three Tears in Borneo” won best miniseries. The show focuses on a group of Taiwanese men entangled in a brutal massacre during World War II.

Veteran actress Chen Shu-fang and set decorator Yeh Hui-lung received special contribution awards. Chen, at 86 years old, expressed her love for acting and her desire to continue working in the industry.

The 60th edition of the Golden Bell Awards, Taiwan’s equivalent of the Emmys, took place at the Taipei Music Center and celebrated outstanding achievements in the television industry.
