Netflix and Tesla Among Major Companies Reporting Earnings

The third-quarter earnings season is in full swing, and we’ve seen some strong results so far. This week, investors are eagerly awaiting reports from more than 80 S&P 500 companies, including big names like Netflix, General Motors, and Tesla.

First up on Tuesday is General Motors, set to report before the market opens. Analysts are predicting a year-over-year earnings decline of over 20%, but Deutsche Bank analyst Edison Yu is hopeful that GM can still deliver an earnings beat. Despite historically beating earnings estimates 88% of the time, GM’s shares have fallen on the last three earnings days.

Later on Tuesday, Netflix is scheduled to report earnings after the market closes. Last quarter, Netflix exceeded expectations with a 16% revenue growth, and analysts are now looking at a year-over-year earnings increase of nearly 30%. With hits like “K-Pop Demon Hunters” driving global engagement, Netflix has a good track record of beating earnings estimates for the last six quarters.

On Wednesday, all eyes are on Tesla, reporting after the closing bell. While last quarter saw sales missing expectations, analysts are now expecting a year-over-year earnings decline of more than 20%. Wells Fargo analyst Colin Langan anticipates an earnings beat but warns of a potential decline given the high expectations baked into the stock.

Closing out the week on Thursday is Ford Motor, due to report after the closing bell. Analysts are predicting a more than 25% year-over-year earnings decline, but Ford has a history of beating earnings estimates for four straight quarters. Additionally, Intel is set to report earnings after the market closes on Thursday, showing a potential swing back to profitability.

Overall, this week’s earnings reports are highly anticipated, and investors will be closely watching to see how these major companies perform. With strong results from banking giants already in, the pressure is on for Netflix, General Motors, Tesla, Ford Motor, and Intel to keep the momentum going.
