Hulu Original Shows Fate Post-App Shutdown
Ready for some good news? The standalone Hulu app is getting a makeover! In 2026, Hulu will merge with Disney+ to create a new and improved streaming experience. But what about all your favorite Hulu original shows like “Tell Me Lies” and “Only Murders in the Building”? Don’t worry, they’re not going anywhere!
Disney CEO Bob Iger and CFO Hugh Johnston promise that the integration of Hulu into Disney+ will provide subscribers with even more choices, convenience, and personalized recommendations. Pretty cool, right? And even better, you’ll still have the option to subscribe to Hulu on its own or stick with Disney+.
Even before the Hulu app officially says goodbye, Disney+ users will start seeing a Hulu tab on their app. Plus, there will be a “For You” tab that includes suggestions from Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN. So whether you’re into drama, comedy, or sports, there’s something for everyone.
In case you’re wondering, Disney acquired a majority stake in Hulu back in 2019 and now owns the whole shebang. And while we don’t have an exact shutdown date for the standalone Hulu app yet, the Disney+ and Hulu bundle currently goes for $10.99 a month. If you want to go ad-free and download content for offline viewing, the premium version is $19.99 a month.
So get ready for a whole new world of streaming possibilities with Disney+ and Hulu coming together. It’s all about giving you the best content and experience possible. And who doesn’t love a good binge-watch session, right?
