Marvel Studios Announces First Disney+ Show for 2026 MCU

Wonder Man was originally planned to be a part of Marvel Studios’ 2025 lineup but has now been moved to 2026. This upcoming series will introduce Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Simon Williams, an actor and stuntman with superpowers, diving into the Multiverse Saga. Initially set for a December 2025 release, Wonder Man has shifted to January 2026, positioning it as Marvel Studios’ first MCU series on Disney+ next year. This move was inspired by WandaVision’s successful January 2021 premiere, aiming to avoid getting lost in the holiday movie shuffle.

To drum up excitement for the series, Abdul-Mateen II shared new Wonder Man merchandise on Instagram, featuring a logo inspired by the iconic Hollywood sign. Marvel Studios also released a one-minute teaser for Wonder Man ahead of the New York Comic Con 2025, giving fans a glimpse of what’s to come.

Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, creator of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, and Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Wonder Man stars Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as the lead alongside Sir Ben Kingsley, Demetrius Grosse, and Arian Moayed. The exact release date for Wonder Man in January 2026 has yet to be revealed.
