UGA student arrested for assaulting girlfriend with concrete flowerpot

A 23-year-old University of Georgia student, Madelynn Peacock, recently made headlines after an unfortunate domestic violence altercation at a home in Athens. The incident took place on May 8 at the home of the victim’s brother on Little Oconee Street. The victim, also a UGA student, suffered a severe head injury during the dispute.

According to police reports, the victim and Peacock were involved in a heated argument that turned physical on the back porch of the residence. During the altercation, Peacock threw a concrete flowerpot with a plant still in it, which hit the victim in the back of the head, causing a bloody injury.

Peacock was arrested and charged with aggravated assault. She was released the following day after posting $1,500 bail. As a condition of her bail, she was ordered to have no contact with the victim and was barred from returning to the residence on Little Oak Street. The judge emphasized that any violation of these conditions could lead to additional criminal charges, such as aggravated stalking.
