Moana 2 Achieves 27.3 Million Views on Disney+ in Five Days

Disney’s “Moana 2” has made quite a splash on Disney+ with a whopping 27.3 million views in just five days since its release. The film, starring Auli’i Cravalho and Dwayne Johnson reprising their roles as Moana and Maui, has become the third most successful Disney Animation movie on the platform.

This sequel had the biggest Disney Animation debut since “Encanto,” and it’s no surprise considering the popularity of the first “Moana,” which has clocked in an impressive 1.4 billion hours of streaming time on Disney+ since its debut in 2019.

Originally intended as a Disney+ series, “Moana 2” ended up hitting theaters on November 28 and raking in over $1 billion at the global box office. Directed by Dana Ledoux Miller, David G. Derrick Jr., and Jason Hand, the film features a talented cast including Nicole Scherzinger, Temuera Morrison, and Dwayne Johnson, among others.

Co-director Dana Ledoux Miller shared her emotional connection to the first film, highlighting the significance of seeing Polynesian representation on the big screen. It’s a powerful message that resonates with many viewers.

While some critics have praised the technical aspects of “Moana 2,” others have noted that the music, done by Abigail Barlow and Emily Bear, doesn’t quite measure up to Lin-Manuel Miranda’s iconic songs from the original movie.

All in all, “Moana 2” has been a massive hit, and with its strong message of representation and adventure, it’s proving to be a worthy successor to the beloved original. If you’re a fan of the first film, this sequel is definitely worth a watch!
