Stunning CG Crafted by UNIT Studios and Eleven Film for Paramount+ Series “STAGS”

Longform and Shortform Studio UNIT has recently launched a new Film & TV VFX Division in collaboration with Eleven Film, the production company behind the thrilling series STAGS, now streaming on Paramount+ UK. This gripping six-part drama, created by Daniel Cullen and directed by David Kerr and Giancarlo Sanchez, has been capturing audiences with its intense storyline and compelling characters.

In STAGS, viewers follow Stu (portrayed by Nico Mirallegro) and his friends as they embark on a stag do in South America that takes a sinister turn when they find themselves on a lawless prison island. Friendships are tested, loyalties are strained, and survival becomes their primary goal.

The series boasts a talented team, with David Kerr, known for his BAFTA-winning work, leading as the director and executive producer. The show’s creators, including Daniel Cullen, bring their experience from other successful series to craft a story filled with twists and emotion.

UNIT’s Film & TV VFX Team played a crucial role in the production of STAGS, working closely with Eleven Film to deliver 300 VFX shots across three episodes. The team used their expertise to create a Photoreal CG Gorilla and seamlessly integrate invisible VFX throughout the series.

Nuno Pereira, UNIT’s VFX supervisor, praised the team’s work on bringing the CG Gorilla to life, highlighting the attention to detail and realistic animation that went into the process. Amanda Luckwell, UNIT’s co-founder, expressed pride in the studio’s new division and the intricate VFX work done on STAGS, emphasizing the seamless integration of the CG creature into the story.

STAGS, distributed internationally by Sony Pictures Television, is available exclusively on Paramount+ in the UK. UNIT’s Making Of feature provides further insight into the creation of the CG Gorilla, shedding light on the meticulous process behind the scenes.
