Actor from Harry Potter series discloses potential return for HBO Max show

Harry Potter fans have been buzzing with excitement over the news of an upcoming HBO Max adaptation of the beloved series. One key figure in the Harry Potter universe, Matthew Lewis, who played Neville Longbottom in the original film series, recently shared his thoughts on the possibility of reprising his role in the new adaptation.

In an interview with People, Matthew Lewis expressed his openness to returning as Neville Longbottom, stating, “It’s not something I’m looking at or want to do but would not turn my nose up at.” The actor also mentioned his curiosity about portraying an adult version of Neville, saying, “I’d be very interested to see if it was Neville as an adult — a whole different vibe. That could be interesting. I would certainly look at that and consider it.”

While fans eagerly await updates on the upcoming series, Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav has hinted that the adaptation is still in its early stages and is expected to air in 2026. Casey Bloys, Chairman and CEO of HBO & Max Content, has reassured fans that the adaptation will stay true to J.K. Rowling’s original book series, promising “a faithful adaptation” that will bring Hogwarts to life in a new way.

Regarding the casting for the new series, it has been confirmed that a fresh cast will lead the show, catering to a new generation of fans while maintaining the essence of the beloved characters and magical world that fans have cherished for over two decades. Each season will stay authentic to the original books, introducing Harry Potter and his adventures to a global audience, with the original films remaining a cornerstone of the franchise.

In response to the announcement, Daniel Radcliffe, who famously portrayed Harry Potter, shared that he believes the new series will start fresh without the need for his character to make a cameo appearance. He expressed his excitement for the new iteration and wished the creators success in making their mark on the Wizarding World.

Another Harry Potter alum, Jason Isaacs, known for his role as Lucius Malfoy, humorously mentioned his interest in playing Dobby in the new series, citing the character’s lack of makeup requirements as a bonus. Isaacs joked about being able to casually stroll onto the set, have a cup of coffee, and effortlessly steal the scene.

As the Harry Potter universe expands with the upcoming HBO Max adaptation, fans can anticipate a fresh take on the magical world they know and love, with new faces bringing the beloved characters to life once again.
