Kentucky Derby TV Schedule: Start Time, Post Positions & Horse List
Today is the big day – the Kentucky Derby! The race starts at 7:02 p.m. Eastern on NBC, but the coverage kicks off at 2:30 p.m. Eastern with pre-race festivities. If you’re a Peacock subscriber, you can tune in even earlier at 12 p.m. Eastern to catch all the action on the app.
There’s been some last-minute changes to the lineup with four horses being scratched from the race: Right to Party, Silent Tactic, Fulleffort, and The Puma. But don’t worry, they’ve been replaced by Great White, Ocelli, Robusta, and an unnamed substitute horse. Here’s the updated list of horses and their post positions with the latest betting odds.
Trainer Bob Baffert has two horses in the race, Litmus Test and Potente, with Potente holding the best odds of winning at 23/1. Renegade, despite starting from the No. 1 post position, is the favorite to win the race. Trainer Todd Pletcher is confident that Renegade and jockey Irad Ortiz Jr. can pull off a win from that starting position.
Stay tuned for an exciting and fast-paced race at Churchill Downs tonight!
