UC3 Names Preferred Bidders for UEFA Club Rights in 19 Markets
UC3, the joint venture between UEFA and European Football Clubs, has just announced the preferred bidders for the UEFA men’s club competition media rights in 19 markets for the 2027-31 cycle. The process attracted a lot of interest from various broadcasters, digital platforms, and local TV operators.
Multiple bidders, including big names like Canal+, DAZN, Disney+, ESPN, Paramount+, Sky, and Viaplay, have been chosen for different territories, along with some market-specific broadcasters. This shows the ongoing global popularity of UEFA club competitions and highlights the success of UC3’s new commercial strategy.
The selected bidders will have rights to broadcast various matches, highlights, and special events like the UEFA Champions League final. For example, in Austria, Sky will have rights to the Tuesday first pick match and highlights, while DAZN will cover the Wednesday first pick match and all remaining matches, as well as the UCL Final. Each territory has its own mix of broadcasters and platforms that will bring the excitement of UEFA club competitions to fans.
These agreements aim to strike a balance between expanding global digital platforms and the reach of traditional broadcasters. The long-term deals provide stability and visibility for the upcoming 2027-31 cycle, ensuring fans can continue to enjoy their favorite matches. Additional bidders for other territories will be announced soon, so stay tuned for more updates on UEFA club competition broadcasts.
