Hulu Shutdown News: Final 6 Shows to Be Released
Hulu is gearing up for its final days before it merges into Disney+, and there are some exciting shows in the pipeline that you won’t want to miss. Disney CEO Bob Iger announced the closure of the standalone Hulu app during the Q1 2026 earnings call in February, with the complete Hulu library transitioning to Disney+ by the end of the year. This move comes after Disney acquired NBCUniversal’s 33% stake in Hulu in 2025 to gain full control. Merging Hulu into Disney+ will streamline operations and make it easier for viewers to access all their favorite content in one place. While the Hulu app will be shutting down, the standalone Hulu subscription will remain available.
But before Hulu says its final goodbye, get ready for a lineup of blockbuster shows that are bound to make waves. Things kicked off at Hulu’s Get Real House event in Beverly Hills on April 22, where stars like Khloé Kardashian, Parker Posey, Heidi Klum, and Stassi Schroeder revealed new and returning series that will debut in 2026. Here’s a sneak peek at some of the big shows coming your way before Hulu bids farewell:
“The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives: Orange County” is Hulu’s first official spinoff expanding its MomTok universe. The series relocates to Southern California, following a new group of young mothers dealing with faith, fame, and scandal.
“The Girls,” a reality series produced by Bunim/Murray Productions and executive produced by Khloé Kardashian, will give viewers a glimpse into the lives of her real-life best friends as they navigate motherhood, business ventures, and group-chat drama.
“Project Runway” Season 22 is set to premiere on July 9 on Hulu, Disney+, and Freeform, featuring a record-breaking 22 designers and a star-studded judging panel that includes Heidi Klum, Nina Garcia, and Law Roach.
“The Mob,” hosted and executive produced by Parker Posey, is a celebrity reality competition inspired by mafia movies, offering contestants a chance to win up to $250,000 in cash prizes in a stunning Italian villa.
“Love Thy Nader” Season 2 follows the Nader sisters as they navigate the fashion world and New York City’s social scene, with some changes in production and a new showrunner taking the reins.
And don’t miss “Rivals” Season 2, the return of the hit Jilly Cooper adaptation that takes viewers on a thrilling ride of drama and romance. The new season debuts on May 15, with the first three episodes premiering on the same day.
So, if you’re a Hulu subscriber, make sure to catch these exciting shows before Hulu makes its final curtain call and merges into Disney+ at the end of the year.
