Phil Dunster Talks About Being Seen on ‘Ted Lasso’ Season 4 Set
One of the original cast members of Ted Lasso is setting the record straight about their potential return for Season 4. Last March, when Season 4 of the popular Apple TV show was announced, it was confirmed that Jason Sudeikis, Juno Temple, Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein, and Jeremy Swift would be back in action. However, there were rumors that Phil Dunster, who plays football star Jamie Tartt, might not make a return due to scheduling conflicts. Despite this, there were whispers that Dunster could still show up in some capacity.
Fans got excited when Dunster was spotted on the set in September 2025, fueling speculation about Jamie’s comeback in Season 4. While the actor hasn’t confirmed his return, he shed some light on his on-set appearance during an episode of Today. Dunster revealed that his wife, Eleanor Heydon, directed an episode this season, giving him the chance to be part of the action and get sneak peeks.
When asked directly about his character’s future in Season 4, Dunster played it coy and didn’t confirm or deny anything. But he did express his love for the show and his desire to be part of it again. Dunster portrayed the arrogant yet endearing Jamie across the first three seasons of Ted Lasso, earning an Emmy nomination for his role.
Apart from Ted Lasso, Dunster appears in the new Apple TV series Rooster, where he plays a character you love to hate. During his Today appearance, Dunster discussed the complexities of his character and how the creators masterfully navigate these nuances. He joked about being cast as punchable characters and received praise from his Rooster co-star, Steve Carell.
While fans eagerly await the premiere of Ted Lasso Season 4, they can catch Dunster in action on Rooster, premiering on HBO and HBO Max. So, whether or not Jamie Tartt makes a return in the upcoming season, Dunster’s talent is sure to shine on the screen.
