Trump Purchases Netflix Debt During Paramount’s Battle for Warner Bros.
President Donald Trump recently made some interesting financial moves, namely acquiring more Netflix bonds as Paramount was busy trying to snatch Warner Bros. away from the streaming giant. This move comes as a bit of a surprise, considering all the industry buzz around Paramount’s aggressive pursuit of Warner Bros. Discovery.
The latest financial disclosures from the White House show that President Trump bought somewhere between $600,000 and $1.25 million worth of Netflix debt in January. This purchase came on the heels of another investment he made in December, ranging from $500,000 to $1 million in Netflix bonds, right after Netflix’s big Warners deal was revealed.
While President Trump’s recent investments in Netflix caught the attention of many industry observers, it’s worth noting that he made quite a few other financial moves as well. In addition to the Netflix bonds, the disclosures show that he acquired municipal bonds, corporate bonds from companies like General Motors, Occidental, Boeing, and Coreweave, among others.
Interestingly, while the prior disclosure showed Trump nabbing some bonds from Warner Bros. Discovery, the latest one doesn’t feature any WBD debt. However, it does show purchases of SiriusXM bonds, also valued between $600,000 and $1.25 million.
All in all, it’s clear that President Trump is keeping a diverse portfolio, including bonds from major players in various sectors, like streaming, automotive, and technology. It will be interesting to see how these financial moves play out in the coming months and what impact they may have on the broader market landscape.
