Doris T. Peacock, aged 87, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 26, 2026, surrounded by loved ones in Hoboken. Originally from Colquitt County, she had been a resident of Pierce County for many years before settling in Hoboken in 2012. Doris worked as a dietitian at Blackshear Elementary School in the Pierce County Board of Education before retiring. She was an active member of the Alabaha Freewill Baptist Church.
Doris was born to Newton Tillman and Ercie Sugg Tillman and was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, James A. Peacock, three sisters, Betty Courson, Mary Alice Martin, and Judy Davis, as well as a son-in-law, Wesley Dowling. She is survived by her three daughters, Kathy White (Bill) of Hoboken, Kimberly Dowling of Waycross, and Kelly Smith (Randy) of Waycross, along with four grandchildren, Korey White (Nancy), Valerie Hickox, Vanessa Thrift, and Parker White (fiancé Morgan Coleman). With seven great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter, Doris leaves behind a legacy of love and family.
Memorial services will be conducted through cremation, and the arrangements were entrusted to Music Funeral Home. Doris’s memory will live on through her family, friends, and the community.
