V for Vendetta HBO Adaptation in the Works by Moore & Lloyd
‘s the scoop: HBO is reportedly working on a series adaptation of the iconic comic series “V for Vendetta” by Alan Moore and David Lloyd. The talented Pete Jackson is on board to write the adaptation, with James Gunn and Peter Safran as executive producers. The series is being developed by Warner Bros. Television, with Ben Stephenson and Leanne Klein also serving as executive producers.
Originally published in 1982 in the British anthology “Warrior,” DC took over publishing rights in 1988. The story was later adapted into a successful feature film in 2005, directed by James McTeigue and starring Hugo Weaving and Natalie Portman. The film made over $130 million worldwide and is set to be re-released next year for its 20th anniversary.
If the adaptation is confirmed, “V for Vendetta” will be the latest in a series of DC Comics-based live-action shows. HBO Max’s “Peacemaker” just finished its second season, and “Lanterns” with Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre is expected to premiere in Early 2026.
The official overview of “V for Vendetta” sets the scene in a futuristic England without freedom or faith. A mysterious man named V, wearing a white porcelain mask, fights against oppressive rulers on behalf of the voiceless with only knives and his intelligence. Alongside him is a young woman named Evey Hammond, who gets more than she bargained for. Sounds intriguing, doesn’t it? Share the excitement and stay tuned for updates on this exciting project!
