Disney+ Not Compatible with Apple Devices: Users Receive Mass Notification
Disney+ users recently received news that the streaming service will no longer support certain older Apple devices starting December 1, 2025. The email announcement from Disney+ left users questioning which devices would be affected, leading to discussions online, particularly on Reddit.
While Disney+ has not provided an official list of outdated devices, it is known that the latest version of the app requires iOS 16.5 or later for iPhones, iPadOS 15.3 or later for iPads, and tvOS 16 or later for Apple TV 4th generation and newer. Users with devices that cannot update to these versions will not be able to directly access Disney+ after December 1.
This change may be inconvenient for subscribers who rely on older Apple devices for streaming content. Some users expressed frustration on Reddit, highlighting that their current devices work fine for their viewing needs. However, as streaming services evolve and add new features, phasing out support for older hardware becomes necessary for technical reasons.
In light of this shift, Disney+ subscribers are encouraged to check their device’s operating system version to ensure continued access to the streaming service. Upcoming Disney+ content includes Marvel releases, holiday specials, and family-friendly series, with a focus on expanding offerings and improving app performance.
While the decision to discontinue support for older Apple devices may impact a small portion of Disney+ users, upgrading to a supported device or using workarounds like AirPlay will be essential for uninterrupted viewing. As Disney+ prepares for the holiday season with exciting new content, now is the time for subscribers to ensure their devices are up to date to enjoy the full streaming experience.
