UNC Cancels Hulu Series During Bill Belichick’s First Season: Details

Bill Belichick’s eagerly awaited debut season as head coach of the UNC Tar Heels won’t be getting the documentary treatment after all. Plans for a Hulu series tracking his first year at North Carolina have been nixed, according to a report from Inside Carolina.

The decision to scrap the series comes as UNC struggles with a 2-3 start to the 2025 season, suffering lopsided losses to TCU, UCF, and Clemson, with a combined score of 120-33 in those games.

Interestingly, this isn’t the first time a documentary series about UNC has been canceled since Belichick’s arrival. Initially, the plan was for the Tar Heels to be featured on HBO’s “Hard Knocks,” but that shifted to a Hulu series with more editorial control by the program.

Controversy has surrounded Belichick and the program since he arrived, with tensions rising due to his public feud with former Patriots owner Robert Kraft. Reports even suggested that Belichick prohibited UNC from promoting Patriots quarterback Drake Maye on social media, though the school later shared a clip despite the alleged ban.

While Belichick’s girlfriend, Jordon Hudson, doesn’t have an official role within the program, she has been seen on the field before games, conversing with Belichick and observing from suites, hinting at her influence behind the scenes.

UNC will return to action on October 17 for an ACC road game against California.
