ESPN Secures Media Rights for UEFA Women’s Champions League in Various Territories

ESPN has exciting news— they’ve just signed a deal with Disney to secure exclusive multimedia rights to the UEFA Women’s Champions League! The agreement spans five years, taking us from the 2025/26 through the 2029/30 seasons. This means that ESPN now has coverage for all 75 matches in the league each season, as well as the draws, highlights, magazine shows, and archive content. The coverage isn’t limited to just one place— it’s happening across multiple territories, including the United States, Latin America, the Caribbean, Australia, New Zealand, and Sub-Saharan Africa.

Disney has a separate agreement in Europe to bring the UEFA Women’s Champions League to Disney+. This move positions ESPN on Disney+ as the key destination for fans in these regions. Tim Bunnell, ESPN’s Senior Vice President for Programming Acquisitions, expressed his excitement about this new deal: “This agreement takes us to a new level in bringing fans the most exciting sporting events. We’re thrilled to enhance our portfolio of women’s sports and showcase world-class women’s football to audiences worldwide.” This sentiment was echoed by Guy-Laurent Epstein, Co-Managing Director of UC3, who emphasized the mission to take the UEFA Women’s Champions League to audiences around the globe.

The new deal comes with a breakdown of how the coverage will look in different regions. In the United States, matches are available in Spanish-language exclusively through ESPN Deportes, along with match draws, highlights, and archives. Latin America & the Caribbean (excluding Mexico) will get matches on ESPN via Disney+, with select games airing on linear networks. Meanwhile, Australia, New Zealand, and Sub-Saharan Africa will also have access to all the matches, draws, highlights, and archive content through ESPN on Disney+.

Exciting news for fans of women’s soccer— the UEFA Women’s Champions League is upping its game with a new 18-team League Phase format for the 2025-26 season. Featuring top clubs from across Europe, like Arsenal, FC Barcelona, Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, and Olympique Lyonnais, this season promises to be action-packed. With the Knockout Phase beginning in February 2026, the final showdown will take place in May at the Ullevaal Stadion in Oslo, Norway.
