Disney+ Raises Subscription Prices for 4th Consecutive Year

Disney+ is making some changes, folks! Starting next month, the subscription prices are going up in the United States. For the ad-supported plan, it’ll be $11.99 US per month, which is a $2 increase. And if you prefer the ad-free premium tier, that’ll be $18.99 US a month, up $3. Annual premium subscriptions will also see a $30 US jump to $189.99 US.

If you’re into bundled packages that include Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+, get ready for some price hikes there too. These changes are set to go into effect soon, so mark your calendars!

And for our Canadian friends, it seems like the price increase is happening north of the border as well. Emails sent to Disney+ subscribers in Canada show that premium subscriptions will go from $119.99 to $159.99 on Oct. 28. We’re not sure if there will be other price changes for Canadian users, but we’ve reached out to Disney+ for more info. Stay tuned!

Disney+ kicked off back in 2019 and has been gradually raising prices since then. This move is part of their strategy to improve profits and provide viewers with more original shows and quality movies. This marks the fourth year in a row that Disney has increased subscription prices, even though they finally turned a profit in their streaming business last year.

These changes are coming at a tough time for Disney, as they’ve faced some public backlash recently. Accusations of muzzling free speech emerged after late night host Jimmy Kimmel was taken off the airwaves last week. But no worries, Kimmel is back, defending political satire and free speech rights on his show, Jimmy Kimmel Live!

So, if you’re a Disney+ or Hulu fan feeling conflicted, remember that Jimmy Kimmel wants you to keep those subscriptions going. And if you’re unsure about these price hikes, you’re not alone. Let’s see how this all plays out!
