Disney+ to Launch Daily News Show for Latest Updates

Disney+ is about to add something new to its lineup – a daily short-form news program produced by ABC News called “What You Need to Know.” Hosted by James Longman and Rachel Scott, the show will debut on weekdays at 6 a.m., each episode running 8-10 minutes long as Longman and Scott catch you up on the latest headlines.

This move marks a significant step for streaming platforms venturing into the news sphere, an area where traditional TV has reigned. Almin Karamehmedovic, president of ABC News, expressed excitement about expanding ABC’s presence on Disney+ with this new show, providing an opportunity to engage with a diverse audience.

“What You Need to Know” will join other ABC News offerings already available on Disney+, such as “Good Morning America,” “ABC World News Tonight with David Muir,” “ABC News Live Prime with Linsey Davis,” and “Nightline.”

Longman, ABC News’ chief international correspondent, brings a wealth of experience to the show, having previously worked for the BBC. On the other hand, Scott, ABC News’ senior political correspondent, began her career at ABC and has progressed through various roles to her current position.

Describing their vision for the show, Longman and Scott aim to deliver straightforward news, dissecting the top stories of the day. Their backgrounds covering diverse topics ensure they have a broad perspective to share with viewers.
