Love Island USA Contestant Yulissa Escobar Exits Due to Racist Comments
After several racist online posts surfaced, Yulissa Escobar, a contestant on “Love Island USA,” has left the show. Her departure happened in the early stages of episode 2 of the current season, which premiered on Peacock. During a morning scene, the narrator informed the other contestants and viewers that Yulissa had left the villa.
The exact reason for her exit remains unknown, as no explanation was provided, and she wasn’t mentioned again on the show. It’s unclear if she left due to the backlash over her resurfaced comments or if she was removed from the show instead of leaving voluntarily. NBCUniversal representatives have yet to comment on the situation. Yulissa Escobar has also remained silent on her social media accounts.
Recordings from Escobar’s appearances on two podcasts resurfaced shortly after the cast for “Love Island USA” season 7 was announced on May 29. In these recordings, she used offensive language while discussing past relationships. This controversy has sparked an online backlash against both the show and Escobar.
The remaining contestants on the show include Ace Greene, Taylor Williams, Nicolas Vansteenberghe, Jeremiah Brown, Chelley Bissainthe, Huda Mustafa, Belle-A Walker, and Olandria Carthen. The seventh season of “Love Island USA” premiered on June 3.
