Frozen the Musical Set for Disney+ Release – Filmed on Stage
Exciting news for all the Frozen fans out there! Disney’s Frozen the Musical is making its way to Disney+ very soon. Get ready to experience the magic of Arendelle from the comfort of your couch when the high-quality proshot of the West End production premieres on Friday, June 20.
Filmed at London’s Theatre Royal Drury Lane, this stage version of Frozen the Musical takes the beloved story from the 2013 animated film to new heights with stunning effects, a grand set design, and an expanded score. You can look forward to hearing all your favorite songs like “Let It Go,” “Do You Want to Build a Snowman?” and “For the First Time in Forever,” as well as 12 new songs created specifically for the stage.
The musical reimagines the tale of Queen Elsa and Princess Anna as an epic theatrical journey. When Elsa’s powers inadvertently plunge Arendelle into eternal winter, Anna sets out on a dangerous quest to save her sister and their kingdom. It’s the same story you know and love, but with added emotional depth, more character development, and a few surprises sprinkled throughout.
Leading the talented West End cast is Samantha Barks as Elsa, known for her incredible performance in Les Misérables. Alongside her are Laura Dawkes as Anna, Jammy Kasongo as Kristoff, Craig Gallivan as Olaf, and Oliver Ormson as Hans. The show also features Richard Frame as the Duke of Weselton and Mikayla Jade bringing the lovable reindeer, Sven, to life.
Directed by award-winning Michael Grandage and choreographed by Rob Ashford, this production has been captivating audiences in the UK since 2021 and is set to close in September 2025.
This Disney+ release adds to the platform’s collection of professionally filmed stage musicals, joining the likes of Hamilton and Trevor: The Musical. The big news was unveiled during the D23 Fan Convention, where Samantha Barks treated fans to a live performance of “Let It Go” as part of Disney’s entertainment showcase.
Get ready to sing along, laugh, and maybe even shed a tear as Frozen the Musical takes you on a magical journey like never before. Mark your calendars for June 20 and get ready to be swept away to the wintry world of Arendelle!
