Apple TV+ Market Share Compared to Competitors in Q1 2025

Apple TV+ saw a slight boost in subscriptions with the release of Severance season two in January, according to new data from JustWatch. While Apple TV+ managed to increase its market share from 7% in the fourth quarter of 2024 to 8% in the first quarter of 2025, the rise wasn’t as significant as some might have expected.

In the competitive landscape of streaming platforms in the US, Amazon Prime Video and Netflix continue to lead the pack, vying for the top spots, followed by Max and Disney+. Peacock and Starz each grabbed a 2% market share, with Apple TV+ sitting comfortably at 8%.

Since its debut in 2019, Apple TV+ has amassed over 300 titles, offering a more modest library compared to competitors due to its exclusive focus on original content. Despite earning critical acclaim and prestigious awards for its content, reports suggest that Apple TV+ is still operating at a loss of $1 billion annually for the company. Despite this, the platform boasts approximately 45 million subscribers worldwide.

Apple TV+ remains committed to delivering top-notch original series, with exciting new shows on the horizon. While the platform has room to grow in market share, the quality and variety of its content continue to attract viewers.
