BAMBII Takes Quebec City by Storm at Festival d’Été de Québec
Last night at the Festival d’été de Québec, Toronto’s own BAMBII, also known as Kirsten Azan, set the stage on fire with her dynamic DJ set at the Quebec City Armoury. With her signature deadpan vibe and effortless style (complete with a white beanie and oversized red ski glasses), BAMBII took the crowd by storm, effortlessly blending Caribbean music, jungle, dancehall, UK garage, and drum and bass.
If you’re not already familiar with BAMBII, she’s a rising star in Toronto’s underground music scene. Her debut EP, INFINITY CLUB, not only won the JUNO Award for Electronic Album of the Year but was also shortlisted for the 2024 Polaris Music Prize. Since then, she has collaborated with artists like Kelela and Zara Larsson, toured with Jamie xx, and even graced the stages of Coachella and Glastonbury.
During her set, one standout moment was her wild take on Corona’s “The Rhythm of the Night,” a ’90s classic that has recently regained popularity thanks to its appearance in the Apple TV+ show Widow’s Bay. The crowd went wild for this unexpected throwback, and BAMBII’s infectious energy had everyone on their feet.
Another highlight was when BAMBII mixed in the iconic tune “Sandstorm” for a dubstep-inspired remix that had the crowd buzzing. It was a blend of two different genres that somehow worked perfectly together, creating a high-energy atmosphere that had everyone dancing and grooving all night long.
Overall, BAMBII’s set at the Festival d’été de Québec was a must-see performance that showcased her talent and unique style. Keep an eye out for this rising star as she continues to make waves in the music industry with her genre-defying sound and captivating performances.
