Courteney Cox splits from Johnny McDaid after 13 years

Courteney Cox, known for her role as Monica Geller on “Friends,” has reportedly split from her partner of 13 years, Johnny McDaid, who is a member of the band Snow Patrol. The couple first started dating in late 2013 after meeting at a party.

According to reports from the Daily Mail and People magazine, the separation news surfaced recently. Courteney Cox, who is 62, and Johnny McDaid, who is 49, were last seen together in public at the US Open tennis tournament in September of last year.

Their relationship was initially brought together by singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran, who introduced McDaid to Cox as they were housemates. In an interview with E! News, Ed Sheeran mentioned how Cox and McDaid hit it off and were crazy about each other from the start.

Although the couple got engaged just nine months after they met, they called off the engagement in 2015, remaining separated for six months before reconciling. Cox shared in a podcast interview in 2024 how the breakup was a shock to her, but they eventually worked things out and got back together.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, Cox spoke about the challenges of being physically separated from McDaid and expressed how much she missed his presence. Despite their age gap – with Cox being 12 years older than McDaid – she opened up in a 2017 interview about how their relationship faced challenges like any other, but they found a way to make it work.

Representatives for Courteney Cox and Johnny McDaid have been contacted for comment on the recent separation news.
