Disney+ Comedy Drama “DAD” from A24 UK Gets Greenlight

Disney+ has given the green light to a new comedy drama called “DAD” from A24 UK, known for their work on shows like Such Brave Girls and Dreaming Whilst Black. The series, created and written by Clem Garritty, will consist of six 50-minute episodes. It follows three adult siblings whose lives are turned upside down when their father is accused of a historic murder from their childhood.

As they grapple with the challenges of adulthood and reassess their understanding of their upbringing, Sammy, Ned, and Jess must come together to unravel the family secrets hidden in their past. Through this journey, they confront the difficult and often humorously awkward truths of their present reality.

Lee Mason, the Vice-President of Scripted at Disney+ EMEA, praised the series for its originality and emotional complexity. He highlighted the show as a unique exploration of family, identity, and the lifelong question of truly knowing those who shape us. The script was commissioned by Angela Jain, the Head of Content at Disney+ EMEA, and Lee Mason, the VP of Scripted at Disney+ EMEA, with A24 producing and Clem Garritty at the helm as the writer and creator.

The show promises to deliver a compassionate, surprising, and funny take on challenging themes, and we are excited to see this unique story reach Disney+ audiences.
