Disney+ EMEA Leader Emphasizes Growth Strategy, Increase in Local Originals, and Cinema Releases
Disney+ boss Karl Holmes from Europe, the Middle East, and Africa is excited to share some impressive stats about the platform. In a recent industry conference in London, Holmes reported a whopping 80% growth in ad revenue in the U.K. He also mentioned that Disney+ is leading the way in the young adult audience share in the country, beating out other big streaming platforms like Netflix and Prime Video.
According to the BARB in-home viewing data, nearly 40% of Disney+ viewing hours in the U.K. come from the 16-34 age group, outperforming other platforms. Holmes pointed out that this younger audience has a strong connection to Disney’s movies and shows. He emphasized that Disney+ is all about growth right now, with over a 25% increase in customers since early 2025.
Holmes also highlighted the success of the ad tier that was introduced in the U.K. in late 2023. This move has seen advertising revenue shoot up by a massive 80% year-on-year. Disney+ has expanded its ad-supported tiers to 15 European countries, attracting over 1,000 brands to join the journey. Holmes mentioned a creative collaboration with Waitrose to launch a line of food inspired by a show, “Rivals” and the 1980s, offering treats like steak Diane crisps and rhubarb custard ice-cream. The sparking growth and engagement numbers showcase Disney+ as a platform on the rise, connecting with audiences in a meaningful way.
