Runaway Leader and Surprise Snub Shake Up Emmy Nominations

The Emmy nominations are here, and it’s no surprise that “The Pitt” is leading the pack with the most nods. Also making a splash is the cast of “Widow’s Bay,” with an impressive 19 nominations for their debut season.

There were some unexpected twists and turns in this year’s nominations, including both highs and lows for “Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette.” Plus, a new face, Connor Storrie, received his very first nomination – just not for the show he’s best known for.

While “The Bear” star Jeremy Allen White didn’t snag an acting nomination, the series itself received multiple nods for its final season. On the other hand, “The Pitt” saw 25 nominations, nearly double what it received the previous season, including nods for acting, best drama, directing, and casting.

In a field dominated by familiar names, some fresh faces managed to break through. “Widow’s Bay” stars like Matthew Rhys and Kate O’Flynn are among the first-time nominees, along with Charles Melton from “Beef” Season 2, and Charlie Hunnam from “Monster: The Ed Gein Story.”

One surprise nomination came from Connor Storrie, although it wasn’t for his popular show “Heated Rivalry.” Due to eligibility rules, Storrie earned a nomination for guest-hosting “Saturday Night Live” instead.

In terms of snubs, Jeremy Allen White missed out on a nomination for the final season of “The Bear,” even though the show itself received recognition. Similarly, Ayo Edebiri was nominated for best comedy actress, but her co-star Sarah Pidgeon was left out.
