US Polo Assn CEO Shifts from 90-Hour Weeks to 5:30 p.m. Departures
out from all-nighters, and sacrificing weekends is not a sustainable way to live. So, he made a change.
Now, Prince sees his role as a CEO as more than just making money. He stands by a simple philosophy: “Trust me with your brands and your shirts and your polo, but expect from me also how to act when I’m away from you, how to treat people.”
It’s a lesson Prince learned the difficult way, but one he’s determined to pass on to his team. “I really try to share that with the team that, ‘Guys, we have to work, but we have to make sure we’re healthier in the process—smarter in the process.’”
His mantra is simple: disconnect to connect. To disconnect from work is to truly connect with life outside of the office. And for Prince, that means valuing relationships, health, and wellbeing over endless hours at work.
So, what can we learn from U.S. Polo Assn.’s CEO? Work hard, but work smart. Create boundaries and stick to them. Make time for what matters outside of work. And perhaps most importantly, take care of yourself so you can continue to thrive in your career for the long run.
It’s a refreshing perspective from a CEO in a world where hustle and grind culture is often glorified. Maybe it’s time we all take a page out of Prince’s playbook and prioritize our own health, happiness, and work-life balance.
