Josh Brolin almost quit Ridley Scott movie after one day of filming

Josh Brolin almost walked away from filming Ridley Scott’s upcoming movie, The Dog Stars, after just one day on set. The 58-year-old actor shared his initial doubts about working with the acclaimed Gladiator director on the apocalyptic drama set in a world ravaged by a deadly flu virus, co-starring Jacob Elordi.

Upon arriving in Italy to begin filming, Brolin felt uneasy with Scott’s storytelling-heavy approach and lack of rehearsals. The actor admitted to Empire that he called his agent, expressing his desire to leave as soon as possible. Fortunately, his agent, also a close friend, advised him to take a break before making any decisions. Brolin eventually embraced Scott’s unconventional working style, which involved minimal rehearsals and fast-paced filming.

Even though it took him a day or two to get on board with Scott’s methods, Brolin found the project creatively fulfilling and immensely engaging. By watching footage from the film, the actor realized Scott’s vision and felt inspired by the dynamic scenes with Elordi. The Dog Stars, based on a 2012 novel by Peter Heller, is scheduled for a theatrical release on August 28.

Brolin reflected on his intense involvement in the project, describing it as one of the most creatively rewarding experiences in his career. He praised Scott’s direction for pushing him out of his comfort zone and into a highly creative environment, filled with challenges and excitement. If you’re eager to see this captivating apocalyptic drama come to life on the big screen, be sure to mark your calendars for its release this summer.
